Monroe, LA (Sports Network) - Brandan Walton scored a game-high 18 points to push the North Texas Mean Green to a 68-55 victory over the ULM Warhawks in a Sun Belt Conference bout at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
Roger Franklin recorded a double-double for North Texas (11-8, 4-2 Sun Belt) with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Tony Mitchell submitted 15-point and nine- rebound effort as the Mean Green won for the fourth time in five outings.
Charles Winborne paced the Warhawks (2-17, 1-5) with 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field. Steven McClellan grabbed 13 rebounds in the losing effort.
The Mean Green took a commanding 37-18 lead into the break after they shot42.4 percent from the field and connected on 5-of-12 attempts from three-point range in the opening period. ULM shot just 22.2 percent from the field in the first half.
ULM narrowed the margin after the intermission by shooting 42.9 percent from the field and holding the visitors to 27.6 percent shooting from the floor in the final 20 minutes. North Texas made 12-of-19 from the free-throw line in the second half to arrive as its 13-point victory.
The Mean Green had 12 assists to its 13 turnovers, while the Warhawks had just seven assists to their 18 turnovers.
