Moore, No. 15 Pitt cruise to ninth straight victory

Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - J.J. Moore scored 15 points and grabbed six rebounds, as No. 15 Pittsburgh cruised to a 71-47 victory over St. Francis-PA at the Petersen Events Center.

Dante Taylor posted 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting and pulled down eight boards for the Panthers (11-1), who won their ninth straight game.

"We got off to a really good start," said Pittsburgh head coach Jaime Dixon. "We did what we wanted to do against the one-three-one. I thought we attacked it very well. It was something we prepared for. We outrebounded them by a big number. That is our strength and we wanted to take advantage of that."

Anthony Ervin had 13 points to pace the Red Flash (3-8), who had won three of four after opening the season with six straight losses.

"Coming in here tonight we knew we were up against a really good Pitt team in a great venue," said St. Francis-PA head coach Don Friday.

The Red Flash missed their first seven shots as Pitt raced out to a 13-0 lead. A three-point play by Lamar Patterson extended the hosts' advantage to 30-7 with just under six minutes to go in the first half.

St. Francis-PA played better down the stretch but still trailed 39-21 at halftime.

The Panthers opened the second half on a 10-0 run and their lead ballooned to 31 at 61-30 on a Moore free throw with about 9 1/2 minutes to play.

Pittsburgh shot 50 percent (28-of-56) for the game and committed only six fouls. The Red Flash were limited to 35 percent shooting.
