Laramie, WY (Sports Network) - Charles Odum poured in a game-high 25 points to lead the Portland State Vikings to a 79-69 victory over the Maryland-Eastern Shore Hawks in the final round of the Jim Thorpe Classic at Arena Auditorium.
Chehales Tapscott added 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds as well in the win for Portland State (4-2), while Michael Harthun finished with 15 points. Nate Lozeau got into the mix as well, netting 11 points to go with a team-high 11 boards.
Ishaq Pitt scored 16 points to lead the Hawks (1-7), while Percy Woods and Tyler Hines chipped in 12 and 11 points, respectively.
The Hawks were held to a paltry 28.1 percent from the field during the first period of play, opening a 34-21 halftime lead for the Vikings.
The Vikings then converted 54.8 percent from the floor and 10-of-14 at the foul line over the final 20 minutes to earn a 10-point win.
The Hawks shot just 41.2 percent from the field in the loss.
