Paradise Island, Bahamas (Sports Network) - J.P. Primm netted 20 points, leading the UNC-Asheville Bulldogs to an 87-65 rout of the Utah Utes in the seventh-place game of the Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas.
Primm, who hit 7-of-12 shots from the floor, including four three-pointers, was joined in double figures by Jeremy Atkinson, who posted 16 points and Matt Dickey and Chris Stephenson, who finished with 15 and 14 points, respectively in the win for UNC-Asheville (3-4).
Utah (1-5) wasted strong performances by Josh Watkins and Jason Washburn, who posted 21 points each. Chris Hines tallied 11 points for the Utes, who lost their fifth straight game for new head coach Larry Krystkowiak.
Despite shooting 37.8 percent from the floor in the first half, the Bulldogs were able to take a 41-34 lead into halftime. Utah, which connected on just 38.9 percent from the floor in the first half, was bogged down by an ugly 1- of-10 showing from behind the arc.
Both teams shot the ball much better after the break, with UNC-Asheville controlling the game by knocking down 15-of-28 shots from the floor over the final 20 minutes of action.
The Bulldogs were 9-of-24 from behind the arc in the game, compared to a 3- of-18 showing for the Utes.
