Kingston, RI (Sports Network) - D.J. Irving scored a game-high 21 points and handed out eight assists as the Boston University Terriers captured a 70-64 win over the Rhode Island Rams as part of the Legends Classic at the Ryan Center.
Also scoring in double figures for the Terriers (1-4), as they finally picked up their first win of the season, were Darryl Partin with 20 points, Patrick Hazel 14 and Travis Robinson 10 points. Hazel also cleared eight rebounds and blocked three shots in the triumph.
The Rams (1-4) were paced by Orion Outerbridge and Nikola Malesevic with 16 and 15 points, respectively.
Boston University made just one of its six attempts from three-point range in the first half, which is one of the reasons why the team trailed by five points at the break, 37-32.
In the second half it was URI that had a hard time finding the mark from long range, converting a mere 1-of-12 behind the three-point line, opening the door for the Terriers to take the six-point decision.
Boston University knocked down an even 50 percent from the floor in order to combat 15 turnovers on the afternoon.
