Willis Wilson takes over as coach at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi
Corpus Christi, TX (Sports Network) - Willis Wilson has taken over as the new head men's basketball coach at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Wilson spent 16 years at the helm of the Rice Owls and is the winningest coach in the program's history. He posted a career record of 219-246 at the school. Most recently, Wilson served two seasons as an assistant to Josh Pastner at the University of Memphis.
Wilson's appointment is pending approval of The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents.
The Islanders were looking for a replacement for Perry Clark, whose contract was not renewed following this past season. He spent the previous four years as head coach of the team. The Islanders were just 10-21 this past season, including 5-11 in the Southland Conference. Clark had a record of 54-71 in his four-year tenure.
