NCAA Game Summary - Texas A&M-CC vs. Montreat

Chattanooga, TN (Sports Network) - Demond Watt had 18 points and 12 rebounds as Texas A&M-CC took down Montreat, 84-77, in the consolation round of the Dr. Pepper Classic at McKenzie Arena.

Justin Reynolds had 13 points and seven rebounds and Hollis Hill added 12 points for the Islanders (5-8), who were coming off a 72-42 pounding at the hands of Georgia State on Wednesday.

Cameron Hayes had 16 points, LaBris Adams added 13 while Matt Rushing and Steve McBorrough each donated 11 points for the Cavaliers (4-8), who were dropped by Chattanooga, 89-51, on Wednesday.

Montreat had scored the first five points of the game, but the Islanders responded with an 11-1 run to take command.

Texas A&M-CC continued to build on its advantage and led by as many as 12 points before Montreat cut the deficit to five as it was a 41-36 game at the break.

The Cavaliers cut their deficit to three points early in the second half, but the Islanders responded with a pair of baskets to give themselves some breathing room.

Texas A&M-CC led by 13 with 4:45 to play after and Antonio Topps three-pointer and later had a 14-point lead, which Montreat was unable to overcome.
