Chattanooga, TN (Sports Network) - Dante Curry led the way with 18 points, including 6-of-10 three-pointers, as Georgia State had an easy time with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 72-42, in the Dr. Pepper Classic at McKenzie Arena.
Devonta White posted 14 points and five assists for the Panthers (5-5), who have won two of three thanks to 9-of-20 shooting from beyond the arc. GSU plays host Chattanooga on Thursday for the tourney title.
Demond Watt scored nine points, while Justin Reynolds added eight with nine rebounds and Terence Jones also had eight points for the Islanders (4-8), losers in three of four.
Georgia State cruised to a 14-1 lead to start the game and never looked back. It led by as many as 20 in the first half and took a 37-19 edge to the break.
A 16-7 run to start the second half pushed the advantage to 53-26 on a Josh Micheaux slam, then the 30-point barrier was breached with 4:20 remaining on a Jamar Taylor dunk.
