Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - Raphael Jordan knocked down a three-pointer at the buzzer to give the Bryant Bulldogs a thrilling 74-72 win over the Iona Gaels in the final round of the World Vision Classic at the Wolstein Center.
Jordan finished the afternoon with 14 points, shooting a perfect 3-of-3 behind the three-point line for the Bulldogs (1-2) as they matched their entire win total from 2009-10 when they posted a 1-29 record. Taking the scoring lead for Bryant was Frankie Dobbs who delivered a game-high 20 points, followed by Cecil Gresham and Vladyslav Kondratyev who chipped in 12 and 10 points, respectively.
The Gaels (0-3) were led by Scott Machado who led four starters in double figures with his 16 points, adding seven rebounds, six assists and three steals, but he also turned the ball over five times as well. Kyle Smyth contributed 14 points, followed by Mike Glover and Jermel Jenkins with 12 apiece in the team's third straight setback.
Bryant led by as many as eight points in the first half, yet the squad shot a mere 24.1 percent from the field and 3-of-15 behind the three-point line and fell behind by seven at the break, 28-21.
In the second half Iona's lead reached 13 points about six minutes into the period, but the Bulldogs refused to go away as they made good on 8-of-14 tries beyond the arc and stole the game away from the Gaels in the final seconds.
In a game that saw four ties and 12 lead changes, Bryant survived by combating 22 turnovers with a 40-31 rebounding advantage over Iona.
