Monroe, LA (Sports Network) - Devin McDonald poured in 24 points as the New Orleans Privateers defeated the UL-Monroe Warhawks 82-73 in a Sun Belt Conference showdown at the Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
Charles Carmouche netted 21 points in the win for New Orleans (8-18, 3-12 SBC), while Johann Mpondo scored 13.
Lawrence Gilbert led the way for UL-Monroe (11-16, 6-10) scoring 18 points, while Kenneth Averette added 16. Dynile Forbes and Tony Hooper provided healthy efforts on the night, netting 13 and 12 points, respectively.
The Privateers held a comfortable 44-32 advantage at the intermission after connecting on a solid 60.0 percent of their field-goal attempts in the first half.
New Orleans improved on its success from the floor in the second half, hitting on 64.7 percent from the field (61.7 percent for the game).
The Privateers dominated UL-Monroe in the trenches, outscoring the Warhawks 42-14 in the paint en route to the victory.
