Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Suleiman Braimoh and Tamir Jackson both scored 10 points as they helped lead the Rice Owls to a 60-46 win over the Huskies of Houston Baptist as part of the Rice Basketball Challenge at Tudor Fieldhouse.
Despite shooting only 2-of-9 from the floor, Connor Frizzelle chipped in with nine points for the Owls (3-0).
The Huskies (0-3) were led by Andrew Gonzalez with a game-high 14 points, while Mario Flaherty cleared a game-high 10 rebounds in the setback.
Houston Baptist led by a basket early in the meeting, but the team ended up missing all nine opportunities behind the three-point line in the period, resulting in a 35-18 deficit at the break.
In the second half Rice made good on only 2-of-10 beyond the arc and a total of only eight field goals, yet the home team still managed to register the 14- point win.
The Huskies were guilty of 22 turnovers on the day, which the Owls traded in for 20 points.
