Gordon, eighth-ranked Hoosiers cruise past Longwood
Bloomington, IN (Sports Network) - Eric Gordon scored 21 points to lead six Indiana players in double figures, as the eighth-ranked Hoosiers rolled to a 100-49 victory over Longwood at Assembly Hall.
Jordan Crawford added 16 points and Armon Bassett chipped in 14 for the Hoosiers (2-0), who have posted a pair of lopsided victories this season. Indiana was coming off a 99-77 triumph over Chattanooga in its opener on Monday.
Lance Stemler and D.J. White each contributed 12 points and DeAndre Thomas finished with 10 to round out Indiana's double-digit performers. Jamarcus Ellis pulled down 11 rebounds in the victory.
Ryan Bogan scored 12 points to lead Longwood (2-2), while Dana Smith added nine.
Indiana made it a rout early with a 14-2 run. Ahead 7-6, Bassett drilled a three-pointer to ignite the spurt. Gordon also drained a shot from beyond the arc and capped the surge with a transition layup to give the Hoosiers a 21-8 edge just under seven minutes into the contest.
The Lancers scored the next five points, but never got any closer as Indiana slowly pulled away and built a 54-30 cushion at the break.
Gordon scored 13 and Bassett added 12 -- each connecting on a trio of threes -- in the opening 20 minutes for the Hoosiers, who shot a blistering 64.5 percent during the first half.
Indiana extended the advantage to 32 just under three minutes into the second half on a three-pointer by Gordon and cruised the rest of the way.
The Hoosiers shot 58.5 percent overall and finished 11-of-18 from three-point distance...Indiana also held a 46-33 edge on the boards...Indiana next hosts NC-Wilmington on Tuesday.
