Top-ranked Gators swamp Prairie View
Gainesville, FL (Sports Network) - Joakim Noah poured in 19 points on 6-of-7 shooting as top-ranked Florida crushed Prairie View, 94-33, at the O'Connell Center.
Al Horford, Walter Hodge and Marreese Speights all added 13 points for Florida (5-0), which outscored Prairie View 49-14 in the second half.
Ivory McGilvery had a team-best nine points and Andy Genao finished with eight points for the Panthers (1-3), who shot just 22 percent on the night.
The Gators hit a scorching 62 percent of their shots from the floor in the first half en route to a 45-19 halftime lead.
Horford led the way by going 6-of-7 from the field for all of his 13 points, while also adding nine rebounds, two blocks and four assists prior to halftime.
The teams were locked at 15-15 with about 13 minutes to play in the opening stanza but Florida erupted from there, outscoring its opponent 30-4 down the stretch to establish a comfortable 26-point lead at the break.
Horford scored five straight points in the burst, which was capped by a pair of Corey Brewer layups.
It only got worse for Prairie View in the second half.
This was the first-ever meeting between these two clubs...Prairie View dropped to 0-3 on the road this season...Florida outrebounded the Panthers, 46-27, and finished 37-of-61 (61 percent) from the floor.
