Second-seeded Juan Monaco of Argentina outlasted Kei Nishikori of Japan, 6-2, 2-6, 7-6 (4) Saturday to reach the final of the Malaysian Open.
Nishikori led 5-2 in the third set before Monaco fought back to win a match that lasted 2 hours, 42 minutes at Kuala Lumpur's Putra Stadium.
Monaco is looking for his fourth title of the year, while Nishikori has yet to reach a final in 2012.
The 11th-ranked Monaco will face either top-seeded David Ferrer of Spain or France's Julien Benneteau in Sunday's final.
