The Chicago Cubs and outfielder Scott Hairston agreed to terms on a two-year contract Sunday.
The 32-year-old Hairston batted .263 with a career-high 20 home runs and 57 RBI in 134 games with the New York Mets last season.
Hairston is a career .247 hitter with 95 homers, 124 doubles and 279 RBI in 777 games with Arizona, San Diego, Oakland and the Mets.
To make room for Hairston on the 40-man roster, the Cubs designated outfielder Tony Campana for assignment.
