PITTSBURGH -- The St. Louis Cardinals will have to wait at least one more day for a chance to clinch their third straight NL Central title.
Rain washed out Tuesday night's game against Pittsburgh. The teams with the two best records in the majors will play a day/night doubleheader Wednesday. St. Louis' magic number to wrap up the division title is two after the Cardinals blanked Pittsburgh 3-0 on Monday.
The Cardinals will start Michael Wacha (17-6, 3.15 ERA) in the opener against Pittsburgh's Gerrit Cole (18-8, 2.60). St. Louis will send Tyler Lyons (2-1, 3.96) in the second game against Charlie Morton (9-8, 4.54).
St. Louis is expected to activate right-handed pitcher Adam Wainwright on Wednesday. The three-time All-Star has been on the disabled list since April after tearing the Achilles tendon in his left leg.
