(STATS) - Lafayette will not bring coach Frank Tavani back after 17 seasons at the helm, according to reports Tuesday.

Football Scoop first reported the coaching change and Lehighvalleylive.com said Tavani informed his players at a team meeting Tuesday evening. However, the Patriot League university didn't immediately make a formal announcement.

The 63-year-old Tavani went 84-107 and won four league titles, but Lafayette won only three games over the last two seasons. Including his time as an assistant coach beginning in 1987, he spent the last 30 seasons on the Leopards staff.

Tavani was the Patriot League coach of the year and a finalist for the Eddie Robinson Award in 2004, when Lafayette went 8-4, earned a share of the Patriot title and made the first of four FCS playoff appearances under Tavani.
