Brock Osweiler speaks out on 'very distracting' laser that was pointed at his eyes

The Houston Texans didn't exactly have the best trip to Mexico City on Monday night. The field was a mess, the officials missed several calls that could have changed the outcome of the game, and quarterback Brock Osweiler was dealing with more than just Raiders pass rusher Khalil Mack all night.

He had to endure a bright green laser pointer being shined in his eyes for part of the game. It came from the stands, and though the situation was seemingly under control by the second half it did have an impact on his game.

He called it "very distracting" after the Texans' 27-20 loss to Oakland.

"I'm still gathering information on what exactly took place, but all I know at this point is when we were out there on the field on offense, there were multiple times I saw a green laser coming from the stands," Osweiler said, via the Houston Chronicle. "There was a couple of times it definitely hit me in the eye. And it was very noticeable.

Osweiler won't say whether the distraction changed the outcome of the game, but he did acknowledge it had an impact.

"I never want to say one thing is a difference-maker, but certainly, having a laser zoomed in on your eyeball definitely affects how you play a game."

Osweiler had himself a pretty good game despite the circumstances, completing 26 of 39 passes for 243 yards with a touchdown and interception. His performance wasn't enough to net the Texans a win, but all things considered it was one of his better games of the season.

Of course, his solid outing won't change the fact that the Texans lost, or that he had to overcome a massive distraction -- one he's never dealt with before.

"I've never experienced a laser being shined in my eyeball during a football game, let alone a professional football game in the National Football League," Osweiler said. "So, I think that was certainly disappointing. At the end of the day, that's not why we lost the game. That was just one small factor, but it certainly affected how I was playing."

The Texans dropped to 6-4 on the year and remain just one game ahead of the Colts in the tightening AFC South. Their Week 14 meeting in Indianapolis should prove to be a pivotal one.
