HOUSTON (AP) A person familiar with the negotiations tells The Associated Press that free agent outfielder Josh Reddick has agreed to a four-year, $52 million contract with the Houston Astros.

The person spoke Monday on the condition of anonymity because the deal hadn't been announced by the team.

The 29-year old Reddick played for the Oakland Athletics from 2012 until he was traded to the Dodgers this summer. Reddick, who spent his first three seasons with the Red Sox, is a career .255 hitter with 96 homers and 346 RBIs. He adds a much-needed bat to a Houston outfield that had trouble last season in a year where outfielder Colby Rasmus struggled at the plate and missed significant time with injuries.
