Rory McIlroy is replacing his Nike driver and two fairway metals this week at the HSBC Champions as he begins to search for new equipment.
Nike announced in August that it was getting out of the business of golf clubs and golf balls and concentrating on shoes and apparel. McIlroy, at No. 3 in the world, is the highest-ranked player in Nike's stable.
McIlroy says in an interview he was planning to wait until the end of the year to change because he has been playing so well. He won the Tour Championship last month to become the FedEx Cup champion for the first time.
But he tried out the TaylorMade driver, 3-wood and 5-wood and liked them so much he put them in play at Sheshan International.
