Chris Paul: 'When I broke my hand, I almost lost my mind'

Chris Paul suffered a broken hand in Game 4 of the Clippers' first-round playoff series against the Blazers last season, and once it was learned that Blake Griffin reaggravated a quad injury in the very same game, a series that was tied 2-2 essentially was a wrap. Portland won the next two games, and Paul's season ended in disappointment once again.

In his latest spot for Jordan Brand provided first to FOX Sports, Paul discusses just how devastating the injury was, and explains why the individual accolades mean nothing to him without a championship to secure his legacy.

"When I broke my hand, like, I almost lost my mind," Paul says. "As bad as I want to win a championship and as hard as I work to win a championship, I'm always just trying to improve to be the best player I can be.

"One of the biggest things I've always prided myself on is defense. Now, at this point in my career, that two-way player stuff don't mean nothing if you don't win a championship."

This latest spot is a nod to Michael Jordan's iconic "Failure" commercial from back in the day, in which the man many consider to be the greatest of all time points out just how many times he's failed in order to finally succeed.
