Dale Earnhardt Jr. is out for at least two more races as he recovers from a concussion, but this weekend at Michigan International Speedway, his fill-in Alex Bowman will be sporting the maize and blue.
That's right, the No. 88 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet SS will be trimmed out in University of Michigan colors in this weekend's Pure Michigan 400 at the 2-mile oval track in the Irish Hills.
The look is a radical departure for the No. 88, but it's definitely eye-catching.

According to the team, sponsor Axalta and the University of Michigan "recently partnered to support engineering and business students in addition to coatings research and other projects, leading to a joint paint scheme that Bowman will run this weekend at Michigan."
Very cool idea for the team, the sponsor and the school.
