COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) -- Texas A&M football player Josh Walker has been arrested on charges of assault causing bodily injury to a family member and interfering with an emergency request for assistance.

The Brazos County sheriff's office said Saturday the 20-year-old junior linebacker from Gilmer in East Texas was booked into the jail Friday night. Bond was not immediately set.

The sheriff's office did not identify the assault victim and no other details were immediately available.

The Texas A&M athletic department tells the Houston Chronicle Walker immediately was suspended from the football team.

He started four games as a freshman in 2014 and started one game last season.
