Transfers can fizzle out for a variety of reasons, but usually a player makes at least one appearance for his new team before realizing it just won't work. Javier Hervas, however, has left FK Zeljeznicar Sarajevo in Bosnia without even playing a minute.
So what's the reason for such a bizarre move? According to World Soccer, a pack of stray dogs proved to be the deciding factor. Apparently, Hervas, who transferred to FK Zeljeznicar from Brisbane Roar this summer, and his wife were walking their dog in Sarajevo when a group of stray dogs attacked them.
That was enough for Hervas' wife to say "nope" and insist they return home. The club released a statement on the matter, stating they'd reached an amicable termination of the contract.
"Hervas has not adapted to the capital of Bosnia-Herzegovina and, at the insistence of his family, especially his wife, wants to return to his country," the statement read, per World Soccer. Hervas quickly found a new club, signing a two-year pact with CD Mirandes in Spain's second division.
Now, normally we're all for dogs and soccer crossing paths. Puppies on the pitch, dogs with skill and everything in between will never get old. That's a fact. But nothing can be perfect, and sometimes a few bad dogs can cause problems.
In a perfect world, those strays would get adopted, and then none of this would have happened!
