ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) John Elway declared the Super Bowl champs' quarterback competition wide open entering training camp.

Mark Sanchez will be first up Thursday morning, followed by Trevor Siemian and rookie Paxton Lynch. Coach Gary Kubiak said he'll split snaps right down the middle as he searches for Peyton Manning's successor.

The winner will direct a Broncos offense that Elway reconstructed in the aftermath of Denver's defensive-fueled Super Bowl 50 win over the Carolina Panthers.

While only four offensive starters return at their same position, the Von Miller-led defense returns all but two starters.

However, Elway said Pro Bowlers Aqib Talib, who was shot in his right leg in Dallas on June 5, and DeMarcus Ware (back) will start out camp on the non-football injury list.
