Las Vegas has suddenly become an option for professional sports leagues after years of being overlooked due to the fear of legalized gambling.
The NHL reportedly will award an expansion team to Sin City, Oakland Raiders owner Mark Davis is exploring moving his franchise there and NBA commissioner Adam Silver recently said he's "keeping a close eye" on the NHL's foray into Vegas.
Major League Baseball is also not ruling out Las Vegas as a potential destination sometime in the future. Commissioner Rob Manfred said he "would not disqualify" the desert city as an option.
"I think the whole, 'You can't go to Vegas because there are casinos there,' we passed that by a long time ago," Manfred told the YES Network on Tuesday. "There's casinos all over the place. I see Las Vegas as a viable alternative. I would not disqualify it just because of the gambling issue."
