Golden State Warriors sixth man extraordinaire Andre Iguodala came up with some key defensive stops in the Warriors' Game 6 comeback over the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Iguodala forced key turnovers by Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook in the waning minutes of Game 6, giving Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry chances to seal the victory. But this level of defense isn't anything new for the 12-year veteran.
He's been harassing some of the best scorers in the history of the game. But when Iguodala thinks back at one of his finer defensive gems, one name comes to mind: Kobe Bryant.
Iguodala, while with the 76ers, held Kobe in check way back on Nov. 11, 2005. Bryant shot just 7-of-27 for 17 points.
"It was on the front page of the paper," Iguodala told the San Jose Mercury News. "After the game, Phil Jackson said it was the best he'd seen someone defend Kobe."
Well, Kobe caught wind of all the praise Iguodala was receiving. And in typical Black Mamba fashion, he couldn't wait to atone for the performance.
And boy did he ever. Kobe was so focused that he even gave Iguodala a pregame message.
"Tell Andre 50 tonight," Iguodala said. "You know how much he got -- 48."
