(STATS) - Cinderella is allowed out more often than in the month of March. During college football season, FCS programs are adept at drawing national attention as they seek upsets of larger FBS schools.

Many of the games are played during the first few weekends of the season. This year, there are 112 FCS vs. FBS matchups, and the FCS hopes to exceed its nine combined wins from last season.

Patriot League teams will be involved in three of the matchups:

The Matchups - Colgate: Syracuse (Sept. 2); Fordham: Navy (Sept. 3); Lafayette: Army West Point (Sept. 15).

Glamour Game - Colgate at Syracuse. The Orange have won 15 straight times against last year's Patriot League champ, but the visiting Raiders still hold a 31-30-5 series lead.

Upset Alert - Fordham at Navy. Army doesn't beat Navy, but can Fordham? The Rams beat Army to open last season before the Cadets' season ended with a 14th straight loss to Navy. Quarterback Kevin Anderson and running back Chase Edmonds would both need big games for the Rams to pull an upset.

Notable - Some memorable moments in the Colgate-Syracuse series: in the 6-6 tie in 1897, a newspaper reporter tackled a Syracuse player who was trying to score the winning touchdown because he was sympathetic to Colgate's cause. ... Syracuse legend Jim Brown scored an NCAA-record 43 points in a 61-7 triumph over the Raiders in 1956 … The trip to Army West Point is Lafayette's first game against an FBS opponent since 1997, when the Leopards fell just short 38-36 against the Cadets. They also have a meeting scheduled in 2018 … New Fordham coach Andrew Breiner will make his debut against Navy … Army West Point and Navy are Patriot League members in sports other than football.
