The 23-year-old Norris underwent the procedure in October after making 13 starts in his second season in the majors.

The left-hander was recalled by the Tigers Wednesday after beginning his season with Triple-A Toledo and going 0-3 with a 9.98 ERA.

Outfielder Tyler Collins was optioned to Triple-A.

Detroit is scheduled to face the Washington Nationals in the rubber game of a three-game set.
