Tanner Roark allowed three runs over 7.1 innings in a strong start for the Washington Nationals Tuesday and would have picked up a win had closer Jonathan Papelbon not blown a save in the bottom of the ninth inning.
In the third, Roark unintentionally tossed a souvenir into the stands. Kansas City's Jarrod Dyson asked for time a split-second before Roark began his motion, and by the time home plate umpire Fieldin Culbreth granted time the ball was already out of Roark's glove.
