Kansas City Royals general manager Dayton Moore took a road trip Monday night to St. Louis to meet up with an old friend Tuesday.

More specifically, to give Cubs left fielder Ben Zobrist his 2015 World Series ring.

Moore orchestrated the trade that brought Zobrist from the Oakland A's to the Royals last July. After the trade, Zobrost hit .284 with seven homers and 23 RBI in 59 regular-season games with Kansas City. During the Royals' postseason run to the World Series title, he hit .303 with two homers and six RBI.

Zobrist signed a four-year, $56 million deal with the Cubs this past offseason as a free agent. But he has hardly been forgotten in KC.

"We all know what an important player he was for us," Moore told The Kansas City Star. "Even though he was not in Kansas City for more than three months, he was an important part of our community, another guy who is a great teammate."

According to the Cubs' website, Zobrist showed off the ring to his new Cubs teammates prior to their win over the Cardinals on Tuesday night. In fact, Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo liked it so much that he wore it around the clubhouse. Perhaps Rizzo will get his own this season.
