Denny Hamlin led Friday's lone round of practice for the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway (FOX, Sunday, 1 p.m. ET).
Hamlin had a fast lap of 128.666 miles per hour in the No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota. That was tops among the 40 cars setting times at the 0.533-mile track.
Second-fast at 128.399 mph was another Toyota, this one belonging to Martin Truex Jr. and Furniture Row Racing. Brad Keselowski was third in a Team Penske Ford, followed by six-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson and Jamie McMurray.
Five-time Bristol winner Kyle Busch comes into the Tennessee short track as the hottest driver in NASCAR, having swept each of the last two weekends, with four race victories in three series during that period.
Busch ended the 85-minute practice session eighth, one position ahead of Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Qualifying is scheduled for this afternoon at 4 p.m. with live coverage on FS1.
