The Milwaukee Brewers have signed reliever Carlos Torres to a one-year contract.

To make room on the 40-man roster, the Brewers on Saturday transferred outfielder Rymer Liriano from the 15- to the 60-day disabled list. Liriano is recovering from injuries he suffered when he was hit in the face by a pitch.

Torres made eight relief appearances with the Atlanta Braves this spring, pitching nine innings and giving up four earned runs. The 33-year-old right-hander exercised an opt-out in his minor league contract with the Braves.

Torres went 5-6 with a 4.68 ERA in 59 relief appearances with the New York Mets last season. His best season with the Mets was in 2014 when he went 8-6 with a 3.06 ERA in a career-high 73 relief appearances and one start.
