Zack Smith had a goal and an assist as the Ottawa Senators ran their winning streak to four games by defeating the Edmonton Oilers 4-1 on Tuesday night.
Nick Paul, Alex Chiasson and Mark Stone also scored for the Senators, hoping for a late surge into the Eastern Conference playoffs similar to the one they managed last season.
Jordan Eberle had the lone goal for the Oilers, who have lost five in a row and are once again in last place in the NHL.
The Senators got on the board first with 7 minutes left in the first period when Paul scored his first NHL goal in his fourth career game, whacking a rebound past Oilers goalie Cam Talbot, who was starting his 11th game in the last 12.
