With high winds at Daytona International Speedway, there were few takers during Thursday afternoon's lone round of Daytona 500 practice in advance of Thursday night's Can-Am Duel qualifying races (7 p.m. ET, FS1).
Just seven of the 44 cars entered in the Daytona 500 set times during the 55-minute session.
Atop the leader board at the end of the session was Jimmie Johnson, who ran 193.054 miles per hour in the fastest of his 26 laps in the No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet.
Behind Johnson were the Richard Petty Motorsports Fords of Brian Scott and Aric Almirola. Ty Dillon and Ryan Newman completed the top five.
The Can-Am Duels will determine the final field for the Daytona 500. Michael McDowell, Cole Whitt and Josh Wise will race for one remaining spot in the first Duel, while in the second Duel, Robert Richardson Jr., David Gilliland and Reed Sorenson will fight for the final spot in the 500.
