Report: Jaguars to name Todd Wash defensive coordinator

After interviewing four outside candidates for their vacant defensive coordinator position, the Jacksonville Jaguars ultimately decided to stay in-house by promoting defensive line coach Todd Wash on Thursday, according to a report.

Via Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union, Wash will take over for Bob Babich, who was fired Jan. 5 after a season in which the Jaguars game up the second most points in the league.

Wash, who also served as Jacksonville's run game coordinator in 2015, has been a member of Jaguars coaching staff the past three seasons, but his association with head coach Gus Bradley dates back much further. The two coached together on the college level at North Dakota State and in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Seattle Seahawks before coming to Jacksonville.

Jacksonville also reportedly interviewed Atlanta Falcons defensive backs coach Marquand Manuel, former Miami Dolphins defensive backs coach and 2015 interim defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo, Dallas Cowboys defensive backs coach Jerome Henderson and former Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz.

Schwartz was hired as defensive coordinator by the Philadelphia Eagles on Jan. 19.
