The New England Patriots went into Week 16 with four running backs on the active roster. James White, Brandon Bolden, Steven Jackson and Joey Iosefa were all active on Sunday and saw time on the field, but the Patriots don't seem to need four backs each week.

With that said, the team announced on Monday that they've released Iosefa.

In two games, Iosefa carried the ball 15 times for 51 yards. He played both fullback and running back after being called up from the practice squad on Dec. 19. The Patriots may look to re-sign him to the practice squad if he clears waivers to provide depth in case of an injury. Montee Ball is also on the practice squad, as well.
