David Backes scores winner in 9th round of shootout, Blues outlast Stars for 3-2 victory

David Backes scored in the ninth round of a long shootout to lift the St. Louis Blues to a 3-2 victory over the Dallas Stars on Saturday night.

Alexander Steen and Robby Fabbri scored in regulation and Jake Allen made 22 saves for the Blues, who earned their second win over the Stars this season.

Tyler Seguin and Colton Sceviour scored in regulation and Antti Niemi stopped 35 shots for the Central Division-leading Stars, who had won three straight overall.

The teams meet again in Dallas on Sunday.
