Pitt OC Jim Chaney is set to become the new Georgia offensive coordinator, a source told FOX Sports Saturday morning.

This is a significant hire by new head coach Kirby Smart. The 53-year-old Chaney has extensive experience developing QBs and has worked in the SEC, ACC, Big Ten and NFL. Chaney has coached at Tennessee and Arkansas.

In 2014, Chaney's Hogs outgained Smart and Bama, 335-227 in yards and the Razorbacks went 9-19 on third downs in a 14-13 Tide win.

This fall, Chaney helped Pitt to an 8-4 debut season under new coach Pat Narduzzi and despite losing star RB James Conner for the season, the Panthers ranked a respectable No. 63 in the nation in yards per play at 5.64.
