The Cubs have scooped up versatile veteran Ben Zobrist, agreeing on a four-year, $56 million deal according to FOX Sports Ken Rosenthal.
Zobrist, 34, is fresh off a World Series win with the Kansas City Royals after being traded by the A's midseason. He'll rejoin Joe Maddon, his longtime manager in Tampa Bay.
Zobrist is a career .265 hitter who played primarily second base and left field in 2015, but also added 13 games at third base, five in right field, and six as a designated hitter. The switch-hitter's versatility was a large part of his attractiveness in the free-agent market.
