The Red Sox have nabbed one of free agency's two best starting pitchers. Boston agreed to a seven-year, $217 million deal with left-hander David Price, FOX Sports MLB Insider Ken Rosenthal confirmed Tuesday.

Price, 30, gives Boston the ace its rotation needs after a patchwork group led to a last-place finish in the AL East. The deal kicks off Dave Dombrowski's tenure as the team's new president of baseball operations in a big way.

Price had one of the best seasons of his eight-year career in 2015, going 18-5 with 225 strikeouts over 220 1/3 innings with the Tigers and Blue Jays. His 2.45 ERA led the American League, and he finished second in the AL Cy Young Award voting.

In his eight-season major-league career, Price is 104-56 with a 3.09 ERA and an 8.6 K/9 ratio. He won the AL Cy Young Award in 2012 and is a five-time All-Star.
