The New York Giants have placed Victor Cruz on injured reserve, and they will replace his roster spot with his former teammate during the team's last Super Bowl run. According to FOX Sports' Mike Garafolo, the Giants will be re-signing free agent wide receiver Hakeem Nicks.
The Giants used a first-round pick on Nicks during the 2009 NFL Draft and he played five seasons with the Giants before leaving in free agency. Nicks has been a free agent through the regular season after being released by the Tennessee Titans this offseason.
Now 27 years old, Nicks is four seasons removed from his dominant 2010 and 2011 regular seasons where he combined for 2,224 yards and 18 touchdowns on 155 receptions. Nicks' most memorable stretch didn't even come during those regular seasons. It came during the 2011 postseason when he racked up 444 yards and four touchdowns on 28 receptions over a four-game span.
