The New England Patriots will be without Dion Lewis for the remainder of the season, and while there's depth at the position already on the roster, an addition could be made.
According to NESN, the Patriots worked out running back Daryl Richardson on Tuesday, along with offensive linemen Reid Fragel, Torrian Wilson and Keavon Milton. Following the work outs, the Patriots signed Wilson and Milton to their practice squad.
Richardson has played in 24 regular season games, all with the Rams in 2012 and 2013. As a rookie, he carried the ball 98 times for 475 yards, averaging a healthy 4.8 yards per carry. After a brief two-year stint with the Rams, he made stops on the Jets' and Texans' practice squads.
With the Patriots placing Lewis on injured reserve, there's an open roster spot that has yet to be filled. It's unclear how New England will fill it, but an addition at running back or offensive line are both good possibilities.
