Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler is often characterized by his numerous turnovers and a perceived inability to lead his team. However, since 2009, few passers have been finer in the fourth quarter.
Cutler threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to tight end Zach Miller late in the fourth quarter of Chicago's Monday night matchup with the San Diego Chargers, lifting the Bears to a 22-19 victory. It was his 12th game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter since 2009, according to ESPN's SportsCenter. No quarterback across the league has thrown more during that span.
In addition to his heroics on Monday night, Cutler also threw a game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter to beat the Kansas City Chiefs, 18-17, in Week 5. Against the Oakland Raiders a week before that, he drove the Bears down the field and into field-goal position so Robbie Gould could kick the game-winner in the final seconds of regulation.
Don't be fooled by Chicago's 3-5 record through eight games. So long as Cutler is at the helm, the Bears aren't going to roll over when they're trailing in the fourth quarter.
