It took some time for Devin Funchess, but maybe, just maybe, the rookie receiver from Michigan has hit his stride.

After a slow start to the year, Funchess had a bit of a breakout game of sorts in Week 9 against the Green Bay Packers. First, it was a 52-yard catch with a defender draped on him, then a 14-yard touchdown reception to put the Panthers up 37-14.

As Tim Durr of Black and Blue Review reports, Funchess said he was remaining patient and waiting for his chance.

"I was just waiting on my moment and it came today on the first long one and I made sure I hauled that one in and kept feeding," Funchess told Black and Blue Review.

Well, his strong game got some praise from the head man, Ron Rivera.

"To see Devin Funchess come out and have a game like this, especially against a team like this, that was huge for Devin." coach Ron Rivera said.

Obviously Funchess is still young and has a good bit of growing to do, but we're seeing the signs of a bright future for him. He'll be a player to watch moving forward, especially as he and Cam Newton's connection gets stronger as the weeks roll on.
