DETROIT (AP) Patrick Sharp and Valeri Nichushkin scored in the first period and the Dallas Stars had two empty-net goals in a 4-1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday.

Kari Lehtonen stopped 10 of 11 shots in the first two periods and finished with 21 saves for Dallas. The Western Conference-leading Stars have won three straight and six of seven.

Jimmy Howard stopped 20 shots for the Red Wings before getting knocked out of the game midway through the third period. Dallas center Jason Spezza's right knee connected with the left side of Howard's head as he skated toward the front of the crease. After Howard was evaluated on the ice, Petr Mrazek replaced him.

Mrazek made just two saves before being pulled to add an extra skater, leaving the net open for Tyler Seguin to shoot into with 1:08 left. Cody Eakin added another empty-net goal in the final minute.

Gustav Nyquist scored for Detroit.

CHICAGO (AP) - Patrick Kane had a goal and three assists, rookie Artemi Panarin scored twice in the first period and Corey Crawford made 34 saves to lead Chicago past Edmonton.

Artem Anisimov added a power-play goal with 5.1 seconds left. The Blackhawks ended a two-game slide and won for just the second time in six games.

Kane extended his point streak to 10 games. He has seven goals and 10 assists during the run.

Crawford wasn't beaten until Edmonton's Jordan Eberle scored a power-play goal at 2:56 of the third period on the Oilers' 29th shot. Andrej Sekera cut it to 3-2 with 1:51 left and Edmonton goalie Cam Talbot on the bench for an extra attacker.

Talbot made 24 saves and the Oilers dropped their second straight without injured rookie Connor McDavid.

NEW YORK (AP) - Ryan Spooner and Patrice Bergeron scored, Tuukka Rask made 36 saves and Boston beat New York to snap a three-game losing streak.

Spooner opened the scoring with a power-play goal on a two-man advantage 13 minutes in. He finished a pretty passing play with a shot past goaltender Jaroslav Halak from the doorstep for his third of the season. David Krejci and Bergeron provided assists.

Bergeron scored with 5:47 left in the second on a point shot that was deflected in. Officials originally said the puck went in off Brad Marchand and awarded him the goal, but it was later changed to Bergeron's score after replays showed the pick tipped off defenseman Nick Leddy.

Former Bruin Johnny Boychuk scored for the Islanders on a two-man advantage with 6:42 left in the third. The Islanders squandered two power plays earlier in the final period, drawing boos from the crowd.

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Kyle Palmieri scored on the power play with 1:27 left in overtime and New Jersey endured a rally by Vancouver.

The Canucks made it 3-3 with consecutive goals by Alexander Edler and Sven Baertschi in the second period. Baertschi tied it with 5:54 left.

Keith Kinkaid made 28 saves, and Adam Henrique, Mike Cammalleri and Sergey Kalinin also scored for New Jersey. The Devils have won four of their past five games and eight of 10 since a 0-3-1 start.

Ryan Miller made 24 saves, Chris Higgins also scored and Vancouver lost its third straight.

Higgins scored 2:20 into the game, but then Henrique and Cammalleri got goals later in the first and Kalinin made it 3-1 midway through the second.
