Rookie left fielder Michael Conforto homered twice for New York.
Royals starter Chris Young lasted four innings, allowing two earned runs on two hits and a walk. Mets rookie left-hander Steven Matz was charged with two earned runs on seven hits in five innings. He struck out five and walked none.
