Jason Witten defends teammate Cole Beasley after his costly fourth quarter fumble on a punt return. Matthew Emmons USA TODAY Sports
Dallas Cowboys veteran tight end Jason Witten has been around the game for a while, and he understands that one bad play shouldn't define a player. After Sunday's Week 7 27-20 loss where teammate Cole Beasley muffed a punt late in the fourth quarter that was recovered by the New York Giants, Witten made sure that Beasley got the same message.
Beasley has been one of the Cowboys' most reliable players for several seasons now, and one bad fumble does not negate what he's been able to accomplish with the team. Beasley has not fumbled yet this season, and it would be no surprise to see him as the punt returner in Week 9 when the Cowboys play next.
