It would be easy for South Carolina to pack it in and essentially tank the rest of the season. In fact, many would expect it.

Not only has the state dealt with catastrophic flooding, but longtime head coach (and legend) Steve Spurrier unceremoniously resigned. The thought of South Carolina becoming eligible for a bowl game may seem a bit remote.

When it comes to interim head coach Shawn Elliott, he doesn't subscribe to this doctrine.

The effervescent individual displayed his ardent passion and pride for the football program in an awesome postgame speech after the 19-10 victory over Vanderbilt.

He's truly injected a much-needed boost of energy into the Gamecocks' roster. If the team continues to win, Elliott could ultimately parlay this success into the official title of "head coach."
