The Packers need WR Ty Montgomery back on the field as soon as possible. Jeff Hanisch USA TODAY Sports
The Green Bay Packers keep getting hit with injuries at the wide receiver position. Ty Montgomery was the latest to go down, as the rookie pass-catcher suffered an ankle injury during Green Bay's 27-20 win over the San Diego Chargers on Sunday.
Montgomery might not be sidelined all that long, though. NFL Media's Rand Getlin came through with some good news about the young receiver's X-ray results.
The Packers have used Montgomery in a multitude of ways through the first six games of his professional career. With Davante Adams nursing an ankle injury of his own, Montgomery has been useful catching passes (15 receptions, 139 yards, two touchdowns). He has also taken some handoffs (three carries, 14 yards) and returned some kicks (seven returns, 218 yards).
Green Bay will miss Montgomery's versatility during the recovery period, but this report leads us to believe he'll be back sooner rather than later.
